went to Malta in Sep 06 stayed in one of the (supposedly) best hotels but that is not saying much...
Malta is a dump !
Saw quite a few Honda type R's.
The only Fords of note I saw were crap old Mk2's Escort 1.3's with winscreen stickers and decals - being driven by greasy spotty teanagers....
go to italy and send the aunty a post card instead!

i went a few weeks ago for my honeymoon and thought it was alrite. was a bit quiet but it was a honeymoon so we spent most of the time in the room
though having said that it was the last week of the season so it was bound to be a bit quietl
we stayed in salina wharf, near qawra and buggiba (pronounced owrwa and budge-ee-bah)
i'd recommend it though

think its hal far near a market where the drag strip is
all you idiots who mock malta,,,,, learn a little about its history, it was badly bombed due to its connections with england during the war and YET it still remained loyal to our country, the place has been awarded the george cross for bravery and they also celebrate fucking st georges day,,,,, unlike most the wankers in this country who moan about imagrants and claim there english yet not only can they not tell you when st georges day is without google but they also celebrate fucking st paddys night like its christmas fucking day
its a laid back and very poor place compared to ours but they are the nicest peopole you could ever want to meet,,,, ok im biased as my missus is from malta but they ARE BIG interested in cossies, they is loads of old fords still being used there day to day ( her grandad has a m3 cortina and theres another person there with a lotus cortina,,,,, but then its not as wet as here)
oh and a holiday in malta can cost as little as 100 quid for a week with a hotel
so in a nut shell its not a bad place, a few of my customers at work actually drive here collect COSWORTH PARTS NEW and drive them back, our biggest one is a nice chappy called richard from topford's in malta
and also he fucking looks after ya and always comes with a round of starbucks,,,, unlike most of the wanky garages where all they bring when they visit is attitude and wont even say fucking "hi" if they see you in the pub
rant over

Big drag racing event on in Malta on 1,2,3 December. Final event of the year.
And Im sure there will be plenty of Cossie powered cars, faster than anything in the UK..
I'm heading over for a week, to take in the racing. My first time over there, so looking forward to it.
There's a guy over there running a Cossie with a Skyline gearbox, and he did all the work himself !!!

I will never forget how i were talking to my partner at the time about how my rs will be missing me,as i said this a 2wd saff came round a corner on boost with the arse end well and truly out sent from god

A road trip would be cool...but no way I could afford that. Dont know what the rules are over there for racing anyway.
I know that my car couldnt run in a lot of countrys, due to their build regs. I am not bastardising my car with a cage etc though, as IMO, thats for race cars. A cage in normal road use, whilst may be safer, can also pose dangers to occupants. And Im not cutting the car up to do it anyway

Im not overly fussy. As long as its clean and not miles from the town, its good enough.

ironically its full of peasants but the missus old man owns a converted farm house in oxford aswell as a a place called cassa magri in malta
but he did make his money over here and he aint gone back to live there
id move to malta and was seriously considering it about a year ago,,,,, just dont wanna sell up, move away and realise its not as good as the holiday snaps remind ya
valetta is where we usually stay at,,,,,, but then we only pay for flights and the prices of flights to malta is cheeper than driving to oxford street for christmas shopping

We found a fantastic beach called Golden Bay. next to the Radisson SAS resort. it's in a bay and has white sands, which is great compared to most of the beaches that are rocky. It's about 25 mins on a bus from Qawra (60 cents-ish, about Ł1)

Any one we says that in Malta there isn't a big ford scene, doesn't deserve to come to malta.
I mean come on... in any kind of racing done in malta. hill climb, drag racing and auto cross... the mojority of the cars are fords or ford powered.
There's a guy in drag racing doing 7.4 sec with an modified escort mk1 which is powered by a 4 cylinder cosowrth.. in amrica they do that time with a v8 FFS.
Especialy in drag racing 80 % of the cars are escorts mk1 powred by a cosworth or pinto.

Supra engined dragster !!
The Fugitive...n/a 1490cc Pinto with gas, that ran a very very low 10sec when we were there.
Fastest truck in Europe. sequential/compound twin turbo. These things run a LOT of boost.
A very very very fast car.
And another very very very fast car.
The standard of most of the cars there, would put a lot of UK cars to shame.

not ever car in hal far is modded like that though, but theres not much to actually do in malta hence the cars are a big thing for the young kids,,,, actually even the older generation are big into it
also alot of people in malta do there own work ect too rather than too scared to try it
when i was there a bloke in a bar owned a peugot 106 with a toyota starlet engine which he fitted himself and made the mounts ect,,,,, top bloke and not just cause i got free drinks all night pmsl

Most of the guys in Malta do their own work.....it costs a fortune to have it done anywhere else !!!
How about a nice billet throttle body etc on a MK3 Supra, with a T88 Turbonetics, and 2 speed glide. Pretty much all fab done in Malta.
Or an aluminium panelled MK3 Cortina.....it may seem funny, but clearly some work put in there !!!! and it was pretty fast from what I recall.
Or a 3door Cossie, T66, DTA ecu, and a LOT of boost. Also running an R33 GTR gearbox/4wd setup ( here receiving a new clutch )
You cant argue with the work these guys put in. Is it any wonder their cars go so fast !! They dont follow the crowd and stick to old methods. They develop and push the boundaries an awful lot.
I was very very impressed when I went there. Far more so than any event Ive ever been to in the UK.
