yeh mate reckon most people put xr 4x4 shafts in the front on lowered suspension , we put them in Bigad4x4's they definately do the trick mate they're an inch longer, and as they say am inch makes all the difference!!

Get a GGR Bigger Inner CV joint!

Twice the length of a standard one, the fucker won't fall out then!

I would personally check the driver's side engine mount first. This is likely to be fucked and causing the problems . Standard drive-shafts are NOT an issue, unless you are running stupid camber or the car is "slammed" .

No, mine is due to the excessive negative camber I have dialled in, so mine DOES actually need longer shafts to stop it from popping out . Most DON'T.

xr shafts are too long +14mm. You need about +5-7mm and a new circlip groove cut into the hardened shaft

Agreed about length. Mine are the GGR ones . However, I run a Quaife ATB, which doesn't have circlip to hold in inner CV joint....

i wouldnt say the xr shafts are to long

they dont need a circlip to hold them in place either which is better as its quicker and easier to change

loads of people run them with out failures

and is a cheap mod thats well worth doing once engine mounts are sorted

especially if your car is low

i think the circlip he is refering to is the one which holds the tripode joint... if so you DO need that!

The GpA escorts never had the retaining clip either, so they could change them quicker. However, on extremely low cars, it is security to stop them popping out in extreme circumstances. Not sure if you can run with circlip on Quaife ATB, but don't see why not, the clip is on the shaft in the middle of the spline.

the joint that goes into the diff as thats the only circlip i know of

xr doesnt use them as std and uses the same diff as a cosy so i couldnt see the problem not running one with xr shafts in a cosy

Get the engine mounts sorted thats the key....

I used vibra technic and never had any problems even with hard launches.
Unfortunately, these mounts make the car shake at idle.
