wooo il be stuck infront of my PC in the computer room at uni
like what you see infront of you when mapping a car on the laptop. What do you need to see and what would you like to see thats not on the market at the mo, that will be infront of you
so for example, you see the engine rpm manifold pressure, you can monitor/adjust the fuel etc what else is important for you to see? and what would you like to see that you currently can not?
have fun with your evening

It all depends on the ecu's hardware capabilities and how it will
work as a stand alone device.
Until you have that sorted, you cant design an interface...
When I designed my own ecu, I "looked" at everyone elses, decided
what I wanted mine to do then designed it from the bottom up.
The PC interface was last job which is why I am still writing the windows
version of the existing DOS program I wrote.
Generally all ecu's work in a similar way though...
Wish I had your time and oportunity to do this..

I think in fairness there are allready good software programmes on the market from the hard to use WinOLS too the easy to use interface of CMD.
Race is good and has many features if you know how to use them but like most things, its trial and error.
I am happy with Race and CMD, the interfaces are good and practical but they dont show enough maps with many maps hidden away wether it be due too the programmers not looking deeply enough or wether they feel these maps are less important (which i find is not always the case)
Having said that, i think making an interface too easy to use is a bad thing, it would allow any tom dick and harry to get into this line of work without knowing what they are doing (of course you could get the smart alec who says that about me )
If i had to give a good answer it would be to have the power of WinOLS with the ease of use of CMD.

If they had an "auto tune" button it wouldnt allow differences though.
I think its just about spot on at the moment (until someone comes up with a better way and im left in awe of what ive missed over the years)
