Default Does a car need to be taxed to remove private plate?
Thinking of removing my private plate off the car - does the car need to be taxed, motd, insured?

I have everything except tax which is gonna run out at the end of this month

if your selling the plate, it has to have an MOT, and as long as it has been taxed in the last six months (ie it can be on a SORN) then it's ok, as far as I know.

not selling the plate - want to take it off and keep it on retention.

So do i need tax or not?

I have insurance and MOT.
