Default Cossie fooked AGAIN. . . . . . . .advice please!

Right I was doing 90 ish the other day have been giving it a lil bit of stick here and there

and when after booting it about and driving it home I had what felt like a misfire, nursed it home and left it till the morning

Next day changed entire ignition system but still had (what i thought was) a misfire! Done a compression test and ZERO on No.4

Now have been told ive prob done a valve as im losing complete compression (im getting no smoke out of the exhaust) so im assuming rings/pistons/bores/block is all ok?

What im asking is. . . .. . is it worth wipping head off and hoping just replace valves and a bit of a refurb or am I guna have bigger probs...

Dunno if this helps diagnosing my prob but when running I have a noise like a very slight exhaust blow (but no exhaust blow!) so I think compression is leaking past valves straight into exhaust manifold and a very slight knocking noise but I think the knocking nosie is due to it ruinning purely on three and totally outta balance.

Any advice greatfully apprciated guys

Sounds like my situation - though I blew a hole in no 2 piston and blew my dipstick out behind the battery

Wasn't doing a poxy 90 at the time though - you need to drive faster!!!

As said above, get the head out and take a looky! Get the pics on here too!!!

Sib - Did yours smoke like mad when you blew a hole in ya piston? because mine still runs roughly alright and doesnt smoke and isnt breathing.

Next time ill be doing 150 then and do it proper

Yip, mine smoked a fair bit! My friends following me thought it was fog, but no, it was my car!

Ages ago I cracked my old head on the Cossie - that lead to no compression on no 3, the car still ran (badly) but didn't smoke - it just kept pressuring the header tank under any load...

If you can the head off you'll see whatever the problem is and it will stop the guesswork... bit of a pain I know, but it's prob your first step towards fixing it.

Keep the post updated!
