i was wondering how you go about your everyday lives
as before all thsi i was quite healthy and could do anything but now i havnt wrorked for 4 years as it sthat bad and when i did i couldnt hold jobs doen being ill
im on medication what hospotal gave me but had to stop as i had side affects and doctor put me on old stuff that doesnt seem to work much now but theres nothing else
so wana know if anyone sort of changed there lifestyle to help if so what did you do
ive stopped smoking for 3 months now, but ever since i did its been worse
ive read al the stuff on it and tried various things but carnt seem to get back to normal, am also on anti depressents for 2 years as thats how bad its got
if anyone can help with ideas id be greatful

My Dad had this a few years ago. Had loads of trouble with it. Had an op and everything has been fine since although the silly sod tried to climb a Cherry tree after a few days of being released And I'm sposed to be the daft one

heard about the op
basically they put your stomach back where it should be and staple it there then repair the hole where teh stomach came through
this will be my last resort i supose, but been told it can be done through key hole syrgery now or the same as your dad, supose it depends on how bad it is

they don't mend the hole, just put elastic around the bottom of your oesophogus (spelt wrong) as the sphrincter muscle ( muscle like your bum hole) is loosened and hence allows your stomach contents and acids which is used to digest your food up into your mouth.
simple op though

I had this years ago.
As well as necking that awful Gaviscon shyte for months I had to cut loads out of my diet that triggered it - mainly cheese, anything spicy, yoghurts.
I remember it causing a stomach ulcer and I was given pills that stopped my stomach producing acid so that it could heal and they really done the trick. I'm pretty much free of it now - although I'm still careful with some foods and drinks.

but over the past year or so its gone down hill as im ill virtually everyday, im kinda in a postion i would eat once a day, but thats started to chage over the past month or so as ive lost a lot of weight, im now down to 9 stone which isnt good
the past 3 weeks ive lost all my strength, almost injured myself moving a bonnet
i could quite happily move v6 engines around on teh floor and lift blocks etc
now ive gota start getting my life back since then

I know what you mean, it aint nice feeling like that all the time. - used to give me headaches and dizzy spells too.
Drinking loads of water helps.
Have you had the Barum(sp) meal thing?
I've known a few people have HH but don't know of anyone who's had an op for it.

when i was taken in to hospital i had so many test
think the barium i had, had to drink a liquid then have x rays
but i didnt drink barium it was another liquid which took me 20 mins to drink it was that horrible
i dont think they found anything with it though,
every test they did came back negative and didnt know what was causing the pain i was having, they just put it down to the hiatus hernia nd my ibs, gave me morphine best pain killers, and a load of other medication
but as ive mentioned ive had to stop due to side affects

I was eventually put on Codeine Phosphate pills (my cousin was also given them for his Crohns) - they're little miracle workers. If I feel it coming on - I take a couple of them and it's gone within about an hour.
I ALWAYS make sure I've got some in the house because I'm in agony otherwise.

I have it at the moment, I'm on tablets that do the job for me.
There are a few things you can do to help but the best thing I stopped doing is lying down too soon after eating (this allows the acid to run back up your throat).
Get your self back to the docs and keep trying different medication till you find one that works.
P.S. Water used to make mine worse ! but it is different for everyone.

my dad suffers from this and has done for years, he works and it makes it a lot worse with the job he's in but he has no other option he cant be signed off work as the say there is things he can do but after trying most things he still suffers, as said a lot of food has had to be cut out...
Makes ya sick though that theres a bloke up our road that hasnt worked a day in his life and theres fuck all wrong with him yet someone with a genuine illness is told they have to work
