they look nothing like proper ford rear arms though.
and if they are magnesium they should be painted as magnesium reacts badly with air, they are maybe alloy.

For road and occasional track use, Broms beams are spot on. Had one on my old escos and it helped transform the handling

do it! with your machining skills it should be a doddle for you.

if i can do it on a mk1 escort, you can on your escos. you could build it on a subframe that just bolts to the original mountings so it can be changed back if you want to sell. would add a bit of weight, but would be worth it i reckon.

there's nothing majorly wrong with the front suspension that can't be adequately corrected with adjustable tca's, arb, comp. struts etc for a few hundred quid. it's the rear suspension that lets cossies down so badly compared to other marques.

some interesting reading here about doing it to a mk2 escort

As has been said, for the money Brom charges for his beams, there really is no choice .

I don't think I'm being unkind to him by saying that weld quality is not the prettiest, he will be the first to admit that; but it is more than up to the job. I have had the basic strapped one on my car for three years ), with absolutely no problems, and mine has the cheaper rose joints on as well (as the big motorsport ones weren't offered at the time).

If you want to spend twice as much, then of course you can get better (a Grp A one), but most people see track-days as a hobby and are not chasing 1/10ths of seconds .

Ł650 exchange for the basic strapped version, plus extra Ł150 for Motorsport spec rose joints if required. Add an additional Ł100 if not exchange.

You can get them through me .

The magnessium arms in the picture are Wolf racings ones.

and the same used on the Eggenburger and top german touring cars.

They are not ford items.

The ford items are of course as has already been said the best, but there are a couple of downsides to them.

1. Too expensive for most, who would rather spend it elsewhere, like on shiney bits
2. There not the easiest to get hold of unless you know the right people
3. As has been said the arms are magnessium, and magnessium is quite a hard material to maintain. So be warned, as some can go porous or crack.

The the way forwards is obviously to replicate the ford design.

With a few improvements aswell, ahh the wonders of technology and R&D

Pretty much agree. If I was working as a mechanic teacher at school I would have done a lot of parts due to the fact I could use all the machines to do this in the HUGE free time I would have !

Unfortunetly I work in a garage where exchange basis is our only way. So no machines or so...

mag arms are just no good on a road car the salt kills them rapidly

I know because i had a pair of mag arms rott like fook unless treated every 6 months by striping them checking them and re powder coating

real pain in the ass to maintain and wasted on a road car tobe honest

i went the easy rotue instead

Hi Ian

I have just got a strenthend round beam , the only differance that mine has got to a normal rwd beam is where the sides are

all that has been reinforced to stop a bit of flexing, the beam is solid mounted with rose jointed mag gravel billys for road use

I had a sqare beam with mag arms before ready to fit but i gave them back to Tal motorsport and went for the normal clubmans grp a instead

i couldn't go though the hastle with the mag arms , i personally think they waste of time on a road car

spot on for a track/rally car tho as you know

any pictures of this grp a beam?

imo, a wrc style set up with double wishbones is the way forward, as brom has built for his 3 door

i have some experience with chinese suppliers, i hope that yours are better than mine
we have a top man on the case , just sent him a complete WRC back end ,,

we got all diff casing in the photo,, and these alloy arms will not fit anything unless you have the complete kit of parts,, you can only run center lock hubs with these alloy uprights ,, same really !!!!

THERE WERE NO LIMITS!!!ITS GROUP A,BLANK SHEET OF PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you double check Grp.A regulations limited modifications. There was setdistance on suspention attanchemnt points movement from homologation car and also the original layout had to be kept, that's why Ford waited untill WRC came out with changing to lateral links in the rear.

If I remeber right - attachment point may be moved up to 30mm. Arms, struts, etc are free, but mustbe of same functionality and type - for example semi-trailing arms. Anti roll-bars shocks and springs are free. Joint material is free. Exact regulations you can find on FIA website, Appendix J to International Sporting Code.

my ears are burning

tony giz a pm with ya mobile to sort out picking these parts up from you for the norwegain guy
he has well jenspeed has just placed a order for 2 jag diff wrc lattral link set ups

my beam was takin from the old rs500 beam and played with a little to get the correct settings for little money
blue square beam still used standard pic up points of the stanard beam but alowed it to be drilled to suit yes its strong but mag arms away crack n are alot of hassel to maintain i also do ajustable arms to suit these beams as the pick up points are 10mm norrower to the standard beam have done a couple of square beams in the past for customers but lot of money when the zoo beam works perfect and is on the fastst 2wd cozzy in world

mike rember welding to 15 yr 20 yr old rustly trailing arms aint easy the rust burns out of them
you must sold a load for me now so they carnt be that bad even harvy likes them
