Default energy prices - meter or estimate bill

evening lads

just wondering if anyone knows for sure that you pay more for gas and electricity through a top up meter over an estimated bill from your provider.
Have you swapped and noticed a saving?

I've been told its more but haven't lived in this house long enough to tell yet. if it is i'll look into getting it converted asap

cheers

I got a meter for both gas and lecky, going to get rid as soon as. Think they cost you miles more than a monthly direct debit does.

well from my experience a key meter is a bad move.. for starters you get charged around Ł1.50 meter charge per a week which soon adds up.. i have never used a key meter but my parents are on the meter and really wish they werent.

i mean we pay around Ł10 gas and Ł10 electric per a month DirectDebit we are expecting it to be more this month because it freezing!! and if we were on a meter our meter charges would be around the price of our full bill. at the moment.

anyway hope that helps mate

The pay as you go meter does charge you more, but this is to incorporate for the climate change levy that is factored into your bill if you pay on Direct Debit. I wouldnt have a pay as you go meter for the simple reason that they are a ball ache.

The best way to reduce your gas bill is to have 2 gas metes, and put one of for 4-6 weeks of the winter, just make sure no-one answers the door to the meter man during this period, only takes 2 mins to change a meter.

Not that I would do / condone the above, just what i've been told!
