Default Gap on 071 plugs

Does anyone bother to gap them ( if so what gap for a stage 3 Sierra ) or just bung them in as out the box?

Cheers Big Ern

Wonder why they changed the outer electrode shape from the 701 to 071? Presume it's going back to the old "side-gapping" thing people used to do so the spark present a bigger area to the mix.

Is this why they don't last as long as the older 701s?

Also, do Ford ( Motorcraft ) make their own plugs or are they produced by someone else?
