absolute legend of a car imo.
on my fourth now and will prob keep this one as its mint. never had any probs at all. i just keep it very well serviced . seats are v comfy for a cheap family car too. it handles pretty good for what it is tooand tbh 80 in this feels like 50 in my saph, or focus ,or van, or crane (you get the picture)
i can get 420 mpt mixed driving and itll do an indicated 149 four up (bastard wind)

I had a black P11 GT for about 2 years - they handle great but the engine doesn't do much under about 3.5/4k - not particularly torquey low down.
Have everything you need like aircon, esr, ew half leather seats etc. Having driven an Accord Type-R they are very similar in character only the Accord has a lot more poke.
About the same performnce as a 106Gti but need stirring with the gear stick
Good on petrol but my trip computer was about 4/5 mpg optimistic.
Oil filter is a right git to get off as access is limited - certainly on the P11 at least. Earlier P10 was a bit more hardcore and had adj suspension all round as std.

I owned a P11 Gt SE in mystic green for a while. Totally reliable, nice drive, good performance for such a cheap safe family hatch, plus chain driven which is always a bonus. You need to be patiant as it only wants to go when its above 3500rpm. Try and get an SE, everyone looks at chromoflair paint, plus full leather, BBS rims and in big demand but dont demand to higher price so easy to sell if you dont like it, but I think you will. Top car for 1500 quid.

All depending on your taste, but I like this colour too:

That looks well nice Smit
A mate of mine had a black P10, he paid about £220 for it off ebay, had sky high mileage but never gave him any bother in a year of owning it.
And went well too, I drove it, and it could keep up with my friend's ST170 without any bother

Those SEs get 16" as std though rather than the stock 15" on the normal P11. If you want to keep the car std remember that there is a bigger choice of performance tyres available in 16" rather than 15".
I had almost the last 4 Eagle F1 GSD2s on mine (unless they've started re-making them in 195/60x15) - the handling was excellent.
Fine tuned round the 'Ring by Dirk Schoysmann - the same guy who did the suspension tuning on the Skyline.
There was some film of him doing development on a P11 GT at the Ring as promotional stuff.
Also Nissan released a promotional video of the P11 comparing it to other saloons featuring Tiff Needell

My sister had a p10 eGT until it was written off by an old git and she replaced it with a p11 GT. The eGT was a more fun car to drive, it was more cammy & revvier and handled better and felt lighter. Both of them were pretty quick for a big hatch and their fuel consumption was good too. I'd recommend one over a cav anyday.

I test drove a Cav GSi when I was looking at the Primeras and similar size 4/5 door cars.
I think with the GSi the big strength is the engine and the P11 it's the chassis

Worth the couple of mpg for the added refinment and comfort.
My brother-in-law who has a limited ed GT (green purple paint), would swap for my ST anyday.
That just my experience of the 2 cars, Jap parts can be expensive also, front suspension is weird and a twat to work on.

i had a bit of a duel with one of the earlier ones, it was a 1992 model, p10? and was suprised, i just thought it was a mini-cab but it really seemed to handle well and pulled well after 80 aswell.
