are they vinyl? because if they are hair dryer's usually the best thing, i've found break/cluth cleaner moves anything but not sure if you can get it on the paintwork, saying that i have used it before on a little bit of body work. read instructions first

Just use WD40 on the adhesive, lifts it straight off.
To get the vinyl off without leaving the adhesive behind, boil a kettle full of water and pour it over the vinyl. Pull it off slowly warming the bit immediately in front.

Its almost impossible to remove stripes without leaving glue!
Lighter fluid will remove the sticky but will take a little elbow grease, but at least your safe in the knowledge it wont damage the paint!

Go to your nearest main car dealership, any car brand, armed with an empty 500ml pop bottle or the like and find out where the valeters work. Once you found them explain your problem and ask if they will give you some tar & glue remover. Just pour it onto a cloth and getly rub away the glue then polish the panel once de glued. Im a valeter and thats how we get rid of it when we have cars in with big advertising stickers on them. (We use AutoSmart products and our Tar & Glue remover is called Tardis). Brake cleaner does work but be careful of the paintwork!

Forgot to say, when your taking the stickers off try heating just enough of it so you can lift a littlre bit on a corner or somethimg then just slowly and gently pull it off. It will be leaving loads of glue if you heat the full sticker or heat it too much. If its a pain and keeps breaking then heat the full thing but not too much.
