Nonsense. If you had a vinyl collection, you'd realise that's complete bollox.

"Old skool" as it is termed was going in 94, but when it started getting faster and faster, and 4 beat started emerging, that led to the emergence of "happy hardcore".

There's no way you can possibly class 97 jungle as old skool - it's completely different! There was so little "old skool" breakbeat stuff being produced compared to drum n bass in 96-99, as there just wasn't the market for it.

Now if you want to go for some fucked up 89 stuff, THAT is old skool!

As for the Stevie Hyper thing, I loved him in the early days, but when he used to be off his face, he'd never shut the fuck up. Sign of a bad MC, yapping all over the DJ's mixes, vocals in tracks etc.....
We did the RIP Stevie Hyper D party at Camden Palace with the Remix Records and Dream FM lot - that was a night and a half!

There is no such type of music called "oldskool" anyway!
Its a generic term applied to anything OLD, and thats not just music.

Back in 92 the music was called HARDCORE. No one called it oldskool then lol to me it was hardcore then and always will be hardcore now and forever more.

IMO 99% of MC's these days are fucking wank.
They never shut up, chat over lyrics on the tunes, chat over mixes, and generally just seem to have pointless competitions with other mcs about who can chat their bedroom written rymes the quickest.

Highly annoying and highly shite!
When I used to play at Milwaukees I was constantly turning the mic down bit by bit... it wasnt uncommon to have people chatting away with so much shite that they didnt realise you had turned the volume down so much they couldnt even be heard

An MC should work with the crowd, say things that are relivant and know when to shut up.
A good example that comes to mind is Fearless, back in 94 he was an awesome mc, 5 minutes of his nonsense now has me reaching for the off button!

Who said anything about not liking new stuff?
There have been some of the best tunes ever come out over the last few years (some serious toss too though - but there always has been lol)

From the way you talk Droptop, there are people on here that were into the music/scene when you were in nappies

Not syaying i am more oldskool just trying to get a convo going into the rave scene it's good to talk to some veteran's as they developed the whole scen into what it is today. Loads of respect for the oldskool crowd just wish i was older so i could have seen some of the first raves.
Still i think my knowledge of the scen aint that bad lol

Hard house is the secound choice for alot of dnb fans know as they are using more and more dnb riff's and tunes to make tracks thus making hardhouse darker and darker plus some wicked basslines

If you say so

Personally I HATE anything without a breakbeat....
I started buying tunes/mixing in early 92 and havent liked house/trance/techno/garage or anything similar since!

Johnny, Ive not had my FTP on for ages now, will have to fire it up again.
Loads more on there now though

About 50GB (7000 files) of complete tunes, and 40GB (800) mixes

Im 34, why?

Mixing different genres is irrelivant for practice, if you can mix well you should be able to be given 2 tunes from the same genre and be able to mix them no matter what it is.
if you can mix you can mix, end of.

Lol but beat matching is one thing cutting blending is another so diffrent genres would have diffrent breaks to play with diffrent style's that you can bring to the dnb style pretty worth a try dude.
Anything to make your mixing diffrent a progress through the stages of turtablism
I mean i have a wicked double beat thing going on at the moment againg it's makes some people go mad some proper bouncey with certain tunes

I uploaded an old mix I did for someone the other day, it should still be up

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...0CB0C51133359D
(Left click to download)

I had just been out and bought some new tunes, so got home and had a quick mix with them.
There are a few mistakes in it, but wasnt too bad for a first ever play lol
