I kindly got volunteered to go beating this weekend as a few people have dropped out Can someone explain to me what I have to do? I've never been before and I don't no anyone who is going so some advice would be helpfull from any shooters/hunters or beaters on the board?.

used to do this years ago, when I was a bit younger. basically you walk through woods/field/bushes, in a line of other beaters, with a big stick, trying to scare the pheasants into flight... they are lazy bastards tho.

used to get a fiver a day (quite a bit when your 14), all you could eat at lunchtime, and a brace of pheasants at the end of the day.

I prefer to use a BSI coupler on a train

 

beating is cool. might do it again this year just to get out more and get some good air and exercise

it's quite important to keep in a line, so as to present more of an obstacle for the birds and so as not to get shot!

watch out for the buggers that sit right in and only fly up when you tread on them - you'll cack your pants first time it happens

keep your feet warm and dry the rest of you will be warm enough
