Dont worry, its not just you.

I've been at Northampton Motorsport all day today having my Anglia mapped and it made 178bhp with 148lb/ft of torque..

Now thats quite impressive.....

BUT I so wanted 180bhp... so I asked them to fit some verniers.. and after a load of fookin about and power run after power run she made no more power.

Basically the penis who built the engine put hydraulic lifters in a black top Zetec which should solid lifters with shims.... AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh so the cams have got to come out and have solid lifters fitted and then hopefully it will crack 180bhp..

But I drove home feeling gutted... even the 10 doughnuts I did in their car park didnt keep me smiling for long

Fooking Fords.... and cocks who build Zetecs when they dont know what they are doing

Yeah everyone gets pissed of with them from time to time man,

I know there is loads better out there but i just like the fuckaboutability (spl ) of the RS scene i mean you can thrash the fuck out of a series 2 blow the engine up on friday but be running again on sat afternoon after an engine swap

same with cossies really but always cost me twice as much

Default pissed off

Your not on ya own with buying and everything that i've done to the car my saff owes me 26k, it developed a miss-fire end of august 05 and i just threw it in the garage and left it for a bit, this year i got it out mid-july drove it to ford fair and up and down to the workshop as it still had the miss-fire, then it decided to melt the loom under the steering wheel housing for a second time, i was cursing the car and saying i'm gonna get rid but got it back last wednesday all sorted and took an emergency day of work just so i could drive the car all day and have a bit of a rip, fell back in love with it straight away lol

It can be frustrating but bare in mind these cars are getting old now and age means cars are prone to getting problems, keeping em up and running, sourcing the spares and diagnosing faults etc is the challenge, my car is no exception to faults, its chewed its way through two brand new mt75's from ford, damn i need a quaife

everyone has told me if i part with the car i'll end up going out and getting another one, so i'll pass on the same advice here, keep the car

mate i remember the ford worries

BUT recently i was given this picture and all of a sudden i feel happy again

lets see if it helps you mate

the future bright,,,,,, ok its not orange but its also not a 20 year old car chasing rust

join the rest of the members mate,,,,,, understand why the 3 series bmw is sold more than the mondeo this year

understand why ford are loosing 1 million quid a month

then realise that for 1500 quid you get a car that does 140mph....... for over 30 mins,,,,,,,,, then you slow down for the 40mph zone and not to make a call at the orange box on the hard shoulder

not to mention its quiet inside,,,, no more bad backs when you get out the car and the MOST important thing,,,,,,, AIR CONDITIONING !!!!

good luck mate

being a fellow S1 owner i know just how you feel
My car has just passed the MOT (after 2 years off the road)

i've only used it for 5 miles and oil is leaking on the exhaust
manifold. problem is i don't know where the oil is coming from
so it looks like a full fooking engine strip down again!
(no it's not the rocker cover gasket before anybody asks )
Looks like a cracked head to me

I might just brake the Bastard before it brakes me!

I think we all go through similar things at some point or another, enevitably if you keep going for long enough and spend enough it will be ok in the end. Just depends what you want, because I see it as a hobby and not day to day transport then its easy to justify these little teething problems.

you KNOW its true though,,,,,, 1500 quid,,,,, a months wage for a car that does a PROPER 140mph,,,,,, not ford 140mph on clocks but actually 112mph and have parts of it falling off it ect

I have had so much bad luck this year with my XR4i Cossie Turbo its untrue

First off had headgasket problem, fixed that then the engine bay caught fire

After a few weeks my brother and i sorted the burnt wiring and got it running again only for the headgasket to go again but on closer inspection the block had cracked

Sorted another block, rings, bearings etc and got it running again for all of 700 miles when it started to knock
I had put the big ends in round the wrong way

Was lucky the crank polished out and another new set of bearings and it was working again.

Then the alternator bolt snapped, and the bolt was rubbing on the fan belts. Sounded like i had a supercharger

And the latest thing it would not start the other week when i wanted to go out for a play i just put it back in the garage. Looked at it a few days later to find the earth lead lose, cleaned it and done it up and it started let it run for a bit then put it away, came out the garage to find a big pool of oil the turbo oil feed had a hole in it.

If it would of started the day i wanted to use it my engine would of gone bang

So i was very lucky for once this year

Steve.

Steve.
You've done well to keep going after all that Steve I wanted to break mine when just the oil pump went

As Dan said mate, you're going to have a ONE OFF car, S1's are rare enough let alone one with the power you'll have. It's alot of money but it's what you're interested in. You can't sell this car, it needs to be finished

But just always remember this, no matter how much you spend on the S1.....you'll always be alot uglier than me.
