Anybody know about LCD/Plasma tv's????
We want a 42" TV to mount on the wall in the living room, trouble is I know nothing about them
I know I want 42" and have upto £1,500 to spend (is this a realistic amount ?)
I need to know is LCD better than plasma??
Is there a certain refresh rate i should be looking for??
Whats all this HD ready about?
Any brands I should stay away from or look out for??
Any good places to get them from cheap lol
Thanks in advance, MASSIVE x

£1500 wil get you a lot of telly
i paid £850 for mine but i went to one of them comet stores that deal in ex display stuff, asking prices at that time was about £450 less than retail, but it didn't come in a box but still had a full years warranty on it and all the rest of the stuf that comes with a new telly
this was in wembly, just behind teh stadium but thats no good if you live if scotland is it
the plasma/lcd debate will rage for a while but the only thing i will say is that with the plasma telly, you won't need your heating on this winter, it kicks out a lot of heat (we have a fan directed at it to cool it down ) but at 42 inches, it's a fookin beast of a telly it's SOOOOOOOOO much bigger than my 32 in ch it's unreal, i wouldn't be able to watch a small telly again
the bad points are that the screen is sometimes just a bit too big and you lose a bit of the clarity, but thats why you want hd because you get 4 times the picture as normal telly gives you
but then you will have to fork out a fair few quid a year on sky hd to get the benifits of it
make sure that whatever you buy coes with the fitting kit and stand included in the price, you don't wan to be forking out £1500 for a telly only to have to find another £300 for the wall brackets

hello,
have a look on this forum
http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php
shop around as the prices vary quite a bit for the same model.
Cheers
