Default Oil Pressure question....

...on an older YB engine i got it used to read 65psi when cold then 30psi at idle i then took it out of car and put it in another car it had only done 600miles i started it up and it went to 45psi cold but still 30psi warm at idle...when driving it goes max 40psi used to go 50psi....what is the problem? No top end rattles to signify too low pressure whilst driving...its a std 2wd oil pump which was new but its done 600 miles no probs????

dodgy gauge?

pressure relief valve not opening properly?

funny how the idle has stayed the same but other readings have dropped..

you would think if the engine was gubbed it would be low everywhere

might be to do with ambient temps but you think they would be colder now and the oil would be thicker if anything..

maybe the oil has gone off or broken down..if that possible??

...yeah if an oil could do that break down and lower pressure...its not in a car at the mo but i noted the oil pressure behaviour as something i need to sort incase its something major.

Cheap running-in mineral oils tends to become thin and bad quite quickly.

When I start a "new" engine I change my cheapo running-in oil and filter every 300miles or something for the first 2 oil changes.
