Default Chargecooler water pumps? Cheap?

As per title i guess.

Anyone think (seriously!) of any decent electric water pumps suitable for pumping water round a chargecooler setup?

Someone mentioned Bosch make some?

What about summat for a fish tank? (i dont know about fish, but theres water, so might be a pump )

Cheers

Give Rob at SCC a ring as he has taken quite a few chargecooler pumps off from recent Focus RS intercooler conversions.

I reckon he'd be only too glad to get rid of one...

The Subaru Legacy turbo ran a charge cooler and the pump is in the nearside inner wing.

bosch make proper bo electric water pumps, but out of your price bracket by the sounds of it.

i've heard that some bmw's use them though, so maybe worth a look at a scrappy?

I think you'll find that the caravan pumps aren't rated for continuous use.

I bought a "proper" cheap pump for Ł42 all in, but never used it - can be yours for Ł22 posted. (came in a lovely fetching shade of blue, so I painted it black, but it's never been used).

one of these (the large white plastic filter at the end comes off the allow a pipe to be fitted at each end) :

that shurflo pump that chips posted up might be a bit ott for it but would be ok, do a search for a whale inline 12volt caravan waterpump, they do about 14litres per min and are very compact

Some of these pumps pump at big pressure tho dont they?

That can cause more harm than good surely.

I know the SVA imports 350Z had mega trouble with overheating that was meant to be down to the original electric pump flowing the water so quickly thru the rad it didnt have time to cool down...

Didnt know cars came with aux water pumps BTW!

People i know who have used big flow pumps solve this by simply installing a bypass in parellel with the pump with a tap on it, you open and shut it varying amounts till you get the flow rate through the rest of the system you are happy with.

There are a few people on www.uklegacy.com that removed their chargecoolers in place of front mount intercoolers I sold the chargecooler kit that I'd removed with my car though

cheapest I have heard of is an el cheapo variable speed 12v drill/screwdriver (under a tenner at Wickes etc) with a pump bit attachment (under a fiver) wired directly rather than by battery

You vary the flow rate with the variable speed part of the drill at the neck

Use one of these for Ł90 :

There a bosch item designed for this purpose

They run very quiet and shift alot of water

I've looked into this with several friends that run chargecoolers and this is by far the best we have tried.

If you look on the bosch website there are several different pumps available depending on your requirements.
