on a speeding charge of 66 in a 30, would you attend court or just admit guilty on the form and then sedn it???

Mitigating cicumstances is a Honda was right up me ass, and i mean like 1 ft away from me bumper

Unmarked volvo got me on vid camera. Even he stated in his statement in front of me i was forced to drive quicker

I've always wondered why the excuse "he was sitting on my bumper behind me" gets used......it's not as if the car behind you was pressing on your accelerator, and if they hit you, it's their fault?

Would you do that in you RS?????? Doubt it.

The actual statement reads " I CONTINUED TO FOLLOW THE VEHICLES AT A CONSTANT DISTANCE, WITH THE HONDA DRIVEING VERY VERY CLOSE TO THE REAR OF THE FORD ESCORT. IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE HONDA DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING TO FORCE THE DRIVER OF THE ESCORT TO GO FASTER"

If youd like me to scan the letter, just for you BALLIN, id be more than happy to do do so. I asked for help on here not abuse, so before making unprofound comments please at least attempt to seek all facts.

Thank you

Actually here you go.

I dont doubt the letter, but you said the statement said you were "forced to drive quicker", it doesnt, it says "attempting to force the driver to go faster".

the fault lies with you, as you took the bait - just straightening the story cos no one is forced to speed.

maybe but, "actus non facit reum nisi mens sit "

Its just a play on words isnt it at end of day. I didnt quoute maybe fully or properly until i picked the statement back up and read it. Thnen re-quoted accurately.

so to play words then, " attempting to force the driver to go faster" it did make me do so, so "now i was forced to drive quicker" Correct?

cant beleive it took nearly 5 months to send a summons, is there any evidence of the actual speeds done, it apperas not. you could always ask to see the certificate of calibration on the day of the offence, thought they have to supply this, maybe not though. good luck mate.

strangely enough included in the letter pack , are 2 calibration certificates, one from 21/05/06 and the other on 25/06/06 allegedly conducted by means of a stopwatch on an Expressway at West Bromcih at speeds of 30 and 50 mph.

surley a good solicitor would have have torn that statement to bits? why the hell wasn't the policeman doing his job of PROTECTING you from some toss-bag driving dangerously, with a statement from you that you were fearful of being forced off the road/ assulted/ car jacked you shouldn't have a problem getting that over-turned?

I had a very very similar situation where as I had a car glued to my rear bumper...... I floored it and got nicked!!!!! On the spot I was being charged with 1. Speeding, 2. Undue car and attention and 3. Reckless driving..... When the summons came thru they had dropped the speeding charge....
Basically I represented myself in court and explained the situation I admitted the speeding but not the other 2 offences.... I got off and the copper stood up in court and said "how about the speeding?? he admitted speeding" The magistrate said to him "you haven't got him here for speeding" and then said I was free to go.... I fucked off sharpish
