How is performance and reliability for you all at the moment after pets maintainance work?
We definately have a problem on a server between Uk and France at times as ive had traces time out there, but its definately intermittent and connection dependant. All seemed well last night with 750 online, wonder how your all getting on with your connections?

there have been a few times when it's been REALLY REALLY slow, but thats normally in the evenings and i would get the "cannot conect to server" or the like message come up
but i did notice a marked imporvement in the speed last night, normally you have a few seconds to click the "return to post, return to forum" button, but it was super quick so to whatever source you are using to speed things up, be it a flux capaciter or dilithum crystals, it's working well

Stu,
I know I have said this before and been shot down in flames for it but
I really do think its time to relocate the server to the UK as it seems
stupid to me that 99.9% of the traffic has to go to France and back through
a single point that has time and time again proved to be problematic.
I know Pet likes to keep control but he could do that from anywhere
in the world remotely.
Just a suggestion....

We KNOW it has been bad last week, this is why i had to do this huge maintenance. We need to know how is it feeling since the maintenance I did, ie since Friday night !

tonight the search takes ages and only produces 10 results for a keyword that has blatently more.
the forum loading times are good for pf but not so good compared to every other site im on; talkaudio, dub-marines, a few cruise sites, however only talkaudio has the large userbase to compare with.
typing replies and posting new threads, the computer slows all the way down so if you hold down delete it is extremely slow to delete characters.
pics are loading very quickly.
for reference i have a pentium 3ghz, 1024 mb of ram, and a 1mbit connection.
