Default Do UK Tuners actually "sponsor" customer cars?

I know in some countries really special tuned cars are sponsored by the tuners, given a lot of cheap/free stuff as the car is good advertising for them.

But do UK tuners actually do it?

I "think" i know of a few cars that are sponsored by UK tuners, but not cossies, are there any?

I mean given proper good deals by the tuners in turn for the car being a demo car or advertisment for the company.

It just seems a normal UK thing to have cars covered in the tuners name etc for nothing other than the owner wanting that.

My old cossie was covered in Racetek graphics but that was cause he was a mate way before the cossie days, and sorts me out with stuff proper silly cheap so happy to help like that, but many cars in the UK are famous tuner cars and/or covered in tuners advertising and seemingly get the same treatment as everyone else, certainly not "sponsored".

I know foriegn tuners sponsor their really mental customer cars

A friend of mine has a MR2 loaded with ICE, its officially the loudest one in europe and he wins sound drag competitions. Soundstream offered to give him loads of equipment to put in his car is he took it to the shows as a representative of the company.

But as far as I know its only new cars, cutting edge type stuff that gets it. Fords dont seem to have much in the way of sponsorships.

However a few places are giving me cheap gear to advertise their company on the cab.

"Sponsorship" is all well and good, provided the car owner gives you a good plug when his/her car is featured.

I have done loads of cheap parts to many people (many on here in fact.... you know who you are!!) who when had their car featured gave other tuners ("Honest Ron" or "Happy Shopper" Motorsport etc!!) credit for my charity!! Something to think about!!

Sponsorship works both ways!!

think loads of tuners look after there customers without sponsership and stickers but because they spend shitloads of money

think alot of the sponser stuff is about rates for mates type thing as such

broms car is a fooking monster but its also based on what he does too, if i was building a track 3door would i get the same deal ?????

no because brom, porkie, martin ect are the celebs of the ford world ( i got no issues though as broms has looked after me and hes a top guy too )

its a tough one though as i dont see many tuners doing it for nobodys, theres no point

im not bitter though as what would happen if ya car got nicked with the tuners stuff in it and he was only loaning ya the stuff

also does sponsering cars actually make ya more money if the cars a stupid spec

madrod, if he got all that stuff free thats a lot of work that mark would have to do to pay for it

but in simons case what does a secs s8 ecu actually cost him and he needs to test it out ect too and show people, so in his case

but Karls prob done one of the most sucessfull jobs i belive as his stage 1 gunships on pops and tiff's 3 door is great advertisement and as for butchs s2, now that has changed the way alot of people follow the crowd and all do the same and make the erst world more different, not all the high powered erst's are 16v now

so for simon and karl i say

and if mark wants to build me a silly spec engine for me saff when i get one for advertising i say , ill drop it off the day after i pay for it

oh and i think if Karl was to build a stupid power spec escort cossie for a customer with all the nice toys then id wanna watch that too "cough"paul eggleton"cough"

good idea though steve but do they all make enough to warant the cost and time on the old cars that have to contend with martins bank manager

on new cars like a focus rs its easyer as they can get the money back if its a chip and zorst ect and dont take long

Yeah, you did Brom, no problem there and a good feature it wasd too!! In fact you were a very good advert thank you very much

Im talking about other cars "recently" featured where when I sat down and read the feature I'm thinking "I supplied that and that and that.... etc. quite cheap if I remember" and got no mention at all. It is annoying and does affect my attitude when other people approach me and say their car is being fetaured and they want some cheap bits. Im sure other tuners feel the same but will refrain from comment!!

I get free use of roling road and lots of help and very very good prices from Jamsport, top company and has never let me down. Also Hausers although I work there I still have unlimited use of the workshop and very good deal on parts which I'm also extended out to selected people on this forum.

Ian is right, I see peoples cars and they give credit to people that haven't even done really anything to the car

With mine, so many people have helped out I'd want to thank everyone, not just the select few who maybe have supplied a smidge more - not fair IMO

I personally don't think tuners/suppliers do give out sponsership or 'advertising items' for free or even a massive discount, everyone still has to make money at the end of the day and that's that

Someone above mentioned free labour, that's a good thing and defo worth while IMO
That's where the main cost lies with most things and that to me IS sponsership

Fair play to the tuners/suppliers out there that do help out and I'm sure it's much appriciated at the time

But as Ian says, people 'convieniently' forget about who's helped them out and it works both ways

i.e my engine was built by Mark Shead at MAD about 8 years ago, it's still plodding on and I always tell people when asked that he built it
Ok, the maintenence is mainly APT now (was SCA before Gary and Christian left), brakes are being sorted by A1 Rallysport, Got my interior bufty gauges from Mike Rainbird, Graham at GRS has supplied my intercooler and done some other work for me, various bits and pieces from SCC, Bernie (Gearboxman) did my gearbox, plenty of people on here that have helped with me car too, I don't forget anyone

I'd want to make sure if I sold parts a tad cheaper, then I'd reep the reward for doing so

with my Honda I intended to get sponsored by American companies and at the same time get rights to be the UK distributor (AEM for example) A lot of the USA companies have special sponsorship schemes, with a set way to apply etc as you probably know.

Steve, if you word a letter correctly, tell the people what your aims are, which events you will be at, what other advertisment of the product you can provide etc you may be able to get sponsored by a company in (?new Zealand? )

I have a good example from a while ago for when I was applying. I will dig it out if you want

Quick Reply: Do UK Tuners actually "sponsor" customer cars?
