Default HELP NEEDED...PLEASE HPI CHECK, HISTORY CHECK...

Im looking to buy a 1976 Escort RS2000 in Signal Orange.
The car reg is TWP 770R. The owner has no history with the car, as his brother-in-law owned the car & had a house fire a few years ago & lost 80% of the history
He seems a genuine guy, says the car has been stored the last 4 years & has been owned within the family for the last 13 years. VIN No is GCAT SG02934 Car seems to have a really good spec.
ANY information would be greatly appreciated, as im hoping to have this next weekend. Im spending a fair bit on this & dont want to be stung.
Many thanks
Steve

Yes m8, some one pm me to tell me. Owner did say car has hardly been used only serviced regular & run around block. Has been MOT`d more than its been taxed.
Also been told HPI states colour as RED, But the car is SIGNAL ORANGE??
VIN plate colour code says ( D )
Would it still be classed as Red ??
As im unsure. Owner really seems to know this car well & has provided
lots of photos. Am i just being to suspisious, as this is a 30 year old car & everything else matches up

Something not right with car, so will leave it at that
Just to clarify, certin people think im a trader because im making offers left right & centre on RS Cars. I did recently have a Yellow RS2000, but this car was not what it seemed to be either. There are alot of dodgey motors out there, so i want to make sure i get the right car for my hard earned cash
Cant see a problem in this. Ive made offers on certin cars, and havebeen told they want the auction to run, which is fair enough. So there is no problem with me bidding or enquireing about other vheicles, as i too want the best deal for me.
Just annoys me that just because im really interested in getting a nice RS200, people persieve me as a trader.......

I JUST WANT A NICE MK2 RS2000

According to owner car was last taxed 99, reckons the liability is that car was not insured from that date, as was used on trade policy..
Other things have deemed me from not buying this car. Also good advice from a Mr Hughes
Really great fella & very helpful
