anyone know what a IBAN and BIC code is?

I got a guy in Holland who wants to pay direct into my bank but i've never heard of these codes.

any help appreciated.

 

ring your bank and ask for your iban number, it is unique to you and is made up from your account number,sort code etc,
the iban and bic is very popular in europe but not in this country (methinks banks are far too busy making millions and have no time (or staff) to publicise these things)

one more thing, get your man in holland to pay ALL charges on the transfer, otherwise the banks split the charges 50/50 ,

There should be no charges inside EU. At least not anything more than 1£.
