Default Fuel Cells / tanks

Morning, just wondering what everyones opinion is of boot mounted fuel cells/ fuel tanks such as the pro alloy ones here http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/si...79&id=proalloy in terms of safety and weight distribution?

Safety, I guess it is better if mounted behind a firewall.

Weight distribution wise, well I guess putting 60litres of fuel plus a tank (total about the same as a passenger?) behind the rear axle and quite high up at boot floor level is never going to be great, but with a RWD/4x4 car you are limited for space any lower! I am sure improvements could be made if you could get it between the axles and down to the main footwell level.

I`m more than happy with mine M8.

safety wise it has to be better than a standerd tank under the boot floor
When mounted between the rear strut tops you could take imact from all angles & it would be extremely unlikely to split.
As far a weight distribution could it be better than directly over the rear axle ??
ProAlloy`s welding quality is second to none IMO.
Has impressed & prompted comment from people in the motor trade i have shown the car to

Phil has a valid point , however, with RWD cars a certain amount of weight over the rear wheels can be a positive advantage , stops the wheels spinning and even heats up the rear tyres a bit quicker . The current BTCC cars have their tanks located behind the drivers seats for instance as theyre FWD so more weight required forward .
for safety this is probably a bit better , youre less likely to get T boned than rear ended and a fuel cell at the back of the car may be slightly more exposed .

2 x different locations in the same car , just as an example

I know Danny will position and install the fuel cell safely and in a very good position.
