Default Absolutely gutted..... It's terminal

Well. Today I got my turbo (cheers Carlsworth!!) and fitted it tonight....

Can ran great for about 2 minutes. Then.... Disaster. PLUMES of white smoke started billowing out the back. All the coolant dissapeared after about a minute...........

Head gasket failure.

Now, I have absolutely no money left. I basically wasted my budget on this plie of shite and can't afford to get the head skimmed and new gasket, bolts, and what not..................... I am fucking crushed.

Should I leave it and start working on it in March/April when I get back from sea?? Or shall I cut my losses now and break the cunt??

Help and advice needed.........

A very very very depressed Rab............

I am beyond gutted mate.

I only have 3 weeks of leave left. Now, assuming I get her sorted and get my head skimmed etc.....

I won't be driving her this leave.

I have the worst fucking luck ever.... My own mother even calls me 'Lucky white heather' as a kind of sarcastic nickname if you like.

True, dont loose faith over something quite trivial in terms of RST's

Your think differently in a few months. Whack it in the lock up and work it out later

oh mate dont get me started. I could have bought a minty mint saff cossie or maybe even an Escort Cossie for what ive spent on my XRT real tears!

But i dont regret a thing.

ive done like 5 engines, 3 boxes, 3 clutches, 2 turbos, 2 rads/fuel pumps and other associated shite. I could have given up so many times so easily.
but they are fun cars, dont forget the good times you've had with it....lol well with the last one

I think I'm just upset right now....

But I'd probably not be so fucked off had I had some fun in it. But I've only ever driven it from where I bought it, to my house, and then to my lock up..... Where it's been for 2 weeks. I can't help thinking I've just chucked my money away...........

if its only ran for 2 mins, i take it you mean in the garage or what ever and not actually driving it?

if so then you wont need the head skimmed as it wont of overheated, or even got very warm tbh.

chv head gaskets are quite cheap, and bots are only like Ł25

so for about Ł60 it could be running again

even if the head does need a skim that only about Ł30 too

I know I know. But with my 'lucky white heather' in full effect... I;d buy a new gasket bolts and cambelt and it'll have a bannana shaped head and go again....

Stick it in the garage or a lock up mate. I really isn't that bad, but i can understand why you're gutted and want rid but trust me, keep it and sort it later.

Yes you could have bought a newer reliable car but...it's not what you really want, is it?

I popped the headgasket on my 205 1 week before its first trackday (after i'd spent months doing the cage, brakes, rear beam etc)

Although I just looked on the upside, got myself down the local motorfactors and got my spanners out. 1 day and Ł20 later it was fixed and it's done 3 trackdays since The only headgasket change i'd done before that was on a Metro

i would do a compression test before you start to strip the engine down, it might not be the headgasket thats gone wrong

If it's not, I'm stuffed...... If it's not the gasket it's the head or the block thats cracked, in which case it will be getting broken.

I'll know for sure in about 3 hours.....

Well, a new gasket didn't do it. Either the head has cracked. Or the block.

The gasket I took out was almost new. Tried a new one anyways, but with no success. Same problem. So, I think it may be time to cut my losses while I can.

Mate......you really need to get the head checked for straightness before you throw it back together again!!! Just because the old headgasket looks mint .....seepage can occur under/ over it etc....

I dont want to throw a spanner in the works but are you sure the turbo you stuck on it not cracked internally!!!???

Yeah, I had the turbo rebuilt. And I trust the bloke that did it.

I think it's almost definately the head. Pistons 2+3 have had a steam clean. As have the inlet valves.
