Default FAO Mods......

Not wanting to tell you guys your job, but why is it that when a spammer comes on here that you ban the user but you don't delete the threads?

They usually contain dodgy links etc that could be harmful to PF users, so I would have thought that removing the thread would be the thing to do?

This one has been on here for 3/4 hour now......

https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=226875

As has this one......

https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=226874

This one is tagged onto Guzzler's thread.....

https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=226361

This user was discussed yesterday, where it was pointed out that there were other threads by that user. I didn't click on the link, but unlike some of the spam on here, that one is actually quite believable, so I bet LOTS of people DID click on it.

Here's another tagged onto a thread.....

"leave him alone, he just experessing his views"

has a special needs school been trying to train their students to work as moderators?

Surely it's easy to see that it's some kind of 'Bot' by the fact that it is still logged in and showing as online despite being banned around 1/2 hour ago!

Pete, I wasn't pointing the finger at anyone in particular. I just thought that was the point of a team of mods, so that there was a high chance of at least one mod being present at all times.

Perhaps this is more by way of a suggestion to give mods the right to delete spam wherever it occurs?

i know but it can obviously be a pain for me when you end up not being able to remove stuff in other rooms ..

at least the way it is at the moment there are only certain mods who can be questioned when things go wrong in the rooms they moderate

i would ... i can still ban traders

but it does create a problem .. i had an endless task of removing around 500 plus entries in the pf garge a day whilst pet fixed a small problem ..
spammers will always be present on any large board .. just goes to show ours is a bloody big one then

nice to see people still slating mer calling me silly for last night

shame they never read the post fully where i clearly state i was wrong for stinking up for the so called newbie

as i am human errors do occur but nope peeps would rather make sarcy comments well thanks nice to know after all the hard work i do do on here deleteing threads all the time getting countless pms from people asking me to sort this problem and that problem out i always try my best to be helpful and sort it straight away

i came home tonight been at work 11 hours solid busy day in warehouse unloaded 20 tonne from a container with others completly knackered switch computer on see a pm from a fellow mod regarding spam and a link to this thread so rather than have a shower i come on to sort it first rather than sort my self out makes me think why i bother sometimes

as for spammers when i am informed i delete all threads i am aware of and ban the user

i am now going to have my shower then i will sort out any of the above topics that contain spam.

i now awate a slating for not doing it straight away

Big up the mods for keeping the majority of spam off the board

I suppose its inevitable that there will be posts that go unnoticed, nothing that a PM to a mod that moderates that particular forum wont sort though.

Firstly, Greg, I REALLY wasn't trying to single you (or anyone else) out. You mods do a great job for the most part.

My point is that the Jopoteen thing was discussed in at least 2 threads in GD whilst he was sewing his spamming seeds all over the forum, they were pointed out openly. OK, so I didn't send a direct PM with the links, but there were at least 3 mods online at the time.

I say again that it is silly that a mod can ban a user, then search his post history but NOT be able to delete all posts by that user. Even if a mod can't be given open rights to all sections, which is understandable, surely there is a way of making it that if a user is banned, that there is an option available to remove all entries by that user?
