My brother downloaded a cracking program from the net. Managed to unlock my Nokia 6230 from Orange so I could use it while my 6280 (or whatever I've forgotten what it look like now

you can't unlock the 6280 like that you need the actual Unlocking code from the network provider.
from what i understand its a newer type of encryption something like BS5.
Your local market stall wont be able to do it.
