As Scruffy says, the XE is a very good motor, but its an old 'un

And I dont know about anyone else but Vauxhaul engines in Ford cars just doesnt cut it for me really.

If you want mega revving power stick a Honda S2000 motor in there, 240BHP out the tin


You can still buy new Zetecs, talk to Dave at Retro Ford as he has some, he also has a source for 2.3 Duratecs too.

The beauty of the ST170 motor is it has all the nice bits in the engine already and further power can be extracted quite easily, an initial 10bhp can be had by simply fitting a Vernier Pulley on the exhaust cam.

However to get bigger power then the head needs a bit more porting, some cams and the compression raising will see it crack 200bhp with not huge amount of money being spent.
