For me the evo is the car to have if you want a newer car, the only problems i have with them is, they can look a bit bland inside and out, they bring a new model out every 5 minutes so yours then drops like a stone in price. But yes i whould have one (fq 340), whouldnt sell my escort to get it and whould have to live with it loseing £1000`s every year also dont they drink petrol ?? if so might not be good for the main car.

 

i'd say cossie hands down, even if the evo is a better all round car

you dont get that glow, the feeling you own something special like you do with a cossie

EVO's are 10 a penny every fookers got one, but you dont see many cossie.

i had a EVO 9 FQ340 for the day round croft and although it was fast as fuck n handled like on rails I still keep my saph no question

 

Not talking about you racing.... just remarking on your daft comment that Evos max out at 150mph.... when standard esc cos' max out lower! What's the point of building an engine for top speed only on a road going car?

If your idea of owning a fast car is just to race on public roads at speeds in excess of 150mph, then I definitely think you are a plonker

EVO's have moved on where Cossies left off, only reason to own a Cossie over an EVO is because you grew up with the iconic Cosworth name.
As for yours being faster get real, thats just Power. Lots of EVO's with 600+bhp now, Mark has a few customers at that level now, including T27 on here lets see you pass him. Check out events like Totb to see where tuning is going for each Marque, no Cossies showing up there mate.

There's an awful lot to do with gearing as well in some of the newer Jap cars too

I remember the first time I drove an STi impreza, and was amazed by two things - firstly that the power delivery was so linear, it almost didn't feel turbocharged, and the fact that it just never dropped off between the gears.

I asbolutely LOVE the Escort Cossie - was the man in the street poster car for me as a teenager, but if you're buiying a car for a purpose, and that purpose is to from point a to point b as quickly as possible, then the EVO ticks all the boxes.

It may not be as refined, as comfortable, have the same kind of following, or even be as rewarding a drive, but you can't deny the numbers.

rod i was talking about evos in standard form not tuned up i dont think
they are that quick as standard form yes they would be quick when tuned
like any thing else would be but thats my opinion it may not be other
peoples. i like my cossies they like evos lets leave it like that
or this argument could go on and on i love my fords thats why i come
