Default ANOTHER (quick) cam question. FAO Rick etc (or Karl ROFL)

Long duration/overlap cams, said before they suited to cars with small(er) turbos than ones with big turbos.

But if the current cam isnt as restrictive as the turbo, will it do any good at all?

I guess if the answers YES its becuase with more duration more ex gas can get out the engine on every revoloution or summat, right?

Just trying to be sure the reasoning why lairier duration cams are better for small turbos

You've just answered ur own Question lol.

It also works the other way around - lairy cams giver slower gas speed and take longer for a turbo to spool up.

one think to beware of though....

When you have a restrictive turbo, u need to keep the lobe seperation angle small. If u have the exhaust valve open at the same time as the inlet for too long, the large backpressure created by small turbine housing will cause exhaust gas to stop inlet charge entering the combustion chamber. On a twin cam engine though, it's easy to adjust.
