Default HELP with my Wiring on Headlights ASAP Pleaseeeeeeesssssssss

Ok been getting my Wiring loom sorted on my cossie its a BASIC LOOM from a serria twin cam Every thing works that should apart from my Headlights

When you Put the Side Lights on they work fine "Posion 1 on the light switch" BUT when you Turn the "key to Posion 1" side lights are on fine and head lights are off When you then turn the "key to Posion 2" the headlights On Dipped Beam (seem's Dull ) BUT the "light switch" is still on "Posion 1" There for the Headlights (dip beem) should'nt be on

Then when you put the "Light switch" to "Posion 2" The Dipped lights stay as they were (still seem's Dull ) But i dont have any "Full Beam" But do have it when you "Flash"

Can Anyone Help I have done all the Earthing point and all is fine there

I have'nt tried a new Light Stalk as i have'nt got one to hand

My 1st bit to check would be the yellow wire coming out of the light stalk. As the dim-dip system works when you have the light on pos1 and the ignition on, the relays themselves are okay. If you check the yellow wire and it has +12v when the stalk is on Pos2 and the ignition on, then try @ the fuses, then work down the line that way. If you have no power on the yellow wire, change the stalk.

Warning, the relays can be awkward to check as the dim-dip system changes the lighting system so that the dip beam bulb gets the equivalent of 6v as the relays alter the earthing system accordingly, which can show up as a fault if checking with a multimeter.

If you are worried about relays, change the small 10a rectangular relays @ the back of the fusebox (either white or brown). The dip beam side is normally a small blue relay next to it. Be careful when replacing, as these relays are NOT interchangable and I have seen a MK4 Escort with the same system actually smoke the loom as the owner put a blue relay in the place of a brown relay then turned the lights on. Earth met +12v with no resistance inbetween, fuse didn't blow as power was coming from onboard busbar, billowing smoke soon to follow.

Ok still need help

Right we have had ago tracing the wires ect Cant find a YELLOW wire @ the switch end But have @ the fuse box end That runs into the head light fuses and the white relay that acts as a voltage dropper

Right well we have found that the head lights are running @ 6v on dipped Beam But this does'nt alter when the ign is on we have played around by bypassing the (white) relay and have 12v @ 1 headlight But still no Full Beam

Have still to try the storks it was bloody tight doing it in the garage in the dark with only touches

If memory serves me right, try removing the small blue 10A relay, that is the overall controlling relay for the dim-dip.
