Default My UK (National Day) weekend

Although the recent problems with Ford and my Mondeo and my every intention NOT go, I decided to go after all.
Tickets were booked, hotels were called and reservations were made, the train was booked and off we went on Thursday night 11pm.
We had a train to catch.

Everything went well and at about 9am we arrived at our first destination, being with Stu @ Motorsport Developments in Blackpool, UK.
I've always had the impression that my car wasn't running the full 330bhp it was supposed to have so a general checkup was on the plans
with a possible new chip from him. After taking the car out with his equipment, it became apparent that the car was indeed running to it's
full potential and that nothing was wrong with it.

Since I was running a new 4bar fuel pressure regulator, we decided to up the boost with 2psi and that appeared to have levelled everything out
just nicely. The car was running in full lambda control and everything was perfectly fine. I was a happy bunny since the car felt alot more powerfull
and that without a change of chip.

The following day, a journey was planned to go to our hotel in Leicester so we set off at about 10am with a fully loaded and fueled up car.
When leaving Blackpool, a nice red Lamborghini Diablo came from the Shell Optimax station and since the oil was warm, I thought we could have
a nice play BUT he turned right where I had to go straight on. Big was my disappointment in a missed opportunity to really test my car untill that
same Diablo came out off a street a few miles down the road having taken another road to the same destination, namely the M55 and M6 in the
direction of Birmingham.

Let's just say that he will think twice now before trying to outrun an Escort Cossie. I was VERY happy to say the least after this little encounter.

Further down the road, there was a nice Porsche Cayenne Turbo but the roads were too busy to try and take that on.

Sunday morning 7am and we were the first people at the breakfast table. We left the hotel at 7.45am and since I was running a little late,
the pedal was pushed a little harder on the M1 Northbound to get on the stand in time.
I had a great day although the weather wasn't as advertised. We got sun instead of the promised rain but I doubt that anybody will object to that.

I got myself some pit passes courtesy off a very good man and track action was sooo much better to view from inside the pit.

It was also nice meeting some people and putting faces to their names, ie: Fastmaul and his wife, RS Gus, RS Craig, Lee (sorry about the pizza m8 ),
Brom, Pete, Sean, RSJP, etc.... Sorry if I've missed someone.

4.30pm came and it was time for us to undertake our journey back home after a long weekend. Had a nice play with a Saph Cossie from I THINK
the Surrey RS Owners Club. We shouldn't be doing that anymore m8 but it was a nice strech of private road and people were not willing to
change lanes.

We arrived at the toll booth for the Chunnel train where I had to pay an extra £20 just to get a couple of trains earlier, ie the 8.45pm one instead
of the 10.39pm one. The woman in the booth told me to hurry up as they were allready embarking the train so I pushed the pedal a little
deeper departing from there. A little too deep I think as a copper pulled me over with his blues one. I immediatly had to shut down my car without
being allowed to let it tickover for a minute or 2. To say that he was unfriendly at all was a big understatement. Little did I know that there was
a 20mph speed limit on the Eurotunnel grounds. After a bollocking from him, I could continue my way to the train without a fine (he didn't clock me
or anything) but I think that he warned his fellow customs because they pulled me over for a search of my car. Off course they couldn't find anything
and I was still able to get on the train JUST in time.

I returned home at about 1am after some heavy queus on the E40.

It was fun giving the Diablo a run for it's money.
He will never do that again and will probably move over more quickly next time.

Pleasure was all mine Pete.

Shame that I didn't get any more track action shots.
Battery of the camera was dead way too soon.
