Default Best place to shop for a new PC

Looking for a new PC.

Missed a good offer from dell after fannying about for too long, so what else is ther on offer at the mo?

Criteria;

Dual Core Processor
80GB HD
1024MB Memory

19"TFT, keyboard, speakers etc.. would be nice aswell.

Budget of circa £550 for the lot.

Cheers

I had a quick peek in Tesco last night and was amazed to see how cheap they are doing desktops at now.

above spec but with 200gb HD 3400 processor
no idea if that was with a monitor but Argos do a 19" for £130

£400 for base unit from Tesco !

Considering I had one built 6 months ago for which is now not anything near as good as that spec and it cost me a lot more I'm a bit gutted

The one in the link would be fine as long as he doesnt want to play games, if he does then he'd have to spend about another 100 at least

The only games i really play on the PC are the football manager series, not after mind blowing graphics.

However... Im studying graphic design at uni, so i would like it to be competant in running 2 or 3 programmes at once, without it struggling much?

Ideally i want a nice fast computer, with enough HD space for a fair amount of multimedia, and enough spec for it to play video and display images etc without any bother.

All your replies are magic, MWF, ill have a look at that link in a sec

The dual core processor should really help with that.

Dell have a dual core Dimension 5150 available at the moment available for £279+VAT

At work here my graphic designers machine went up the spout and I had to replace it with an older Dell Dimension which didn't have an expensive graphics card and it eats up Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop no problem, I was really suprised.

if your not bothered about tiny scratches etc, look at dell's factory outlet for a bargain, ive had a few from there now.

right well if your into graphics/video etc then 80gb hard drive wont last you long, id get 120 or maybe 250gb if you can stretch to it.

The 256mb on board graphics would probably be ok for the football manager games and such if you do find yourself wanting better graphics its a 2min job to upgrade it anyway
