What diameter tube are roll cages normally made from?

Thinking about knocking up a quick one for the track car.

I know they should be made in CDS but depending on the cost difference i might just use ERW. The way i see it is its only a track car (no fia approval needed) and any roll cage is better than no cage!

It should be detailed in the Blue book somewhere. There are different thickness requirements for the main hoop etc.

Ah, I haven't got the blue book.

So the main hoop is normally thicker wall?

SOrry I meant bigger diameter Not sure about thickness!

Thats a minimum spec

50mm for the main hoop, 45 for the supports.

whats CDS and ERW.

Got half a roll cage for the mk.2 but want to do a full cage with plenty of strengtheners in it.

price /metre please too.

CDS is cold drawn seamless (has no edges welds or seams)

ERW or Electric Resistance Welded is flat sheet rolled into tubes with a welded seam.
