Do you have power down there?
Maybe consider CCTV via a PC (in addition to physcial security of course). If you have wireless at home you can have quite a useful setup for little cost!

I have a similar problem... my garage is 200 yards from my house in a block of garages..... I chain the door to the car when I know I'm not going to be using the car for a while. Basically bolted 2 exhaust U clamps inside the door and connect chain from each corner of the door to the car...

this is the problem also the garage is about 15 miles from my house lol so cctv is a waste of time the car will be immobilised ie no engine wheels etc and everything of value will be out so guess it will be ok
