Default Focus Steering Rack

Ive managed to bend the drivers side on my old mans Focus

Is this an all in one part? Big job?

not sure tbh, but changing the whole rack isn't that hard really, undo bottom balljoint bolts [replace them] undo track rod ends, p/s pipes, arb link arms, undo the 10mm bolt joining the rack to the coloum from inside the footwell then drop the subframe out and remove the rack, you'll have to remove the arb from the subframe to get the rack off aswell.

Although, i say not that hard, it'll be a bitch if your doing it on the drive with axle stands and all.

You've just bent the track rod (not trackrod end).

These can be replaced whilst in the car, but it seems a bit brutal on the pinnion, best done with rack out.

Track rods from Ford about Ł40 each
They were on ebay but can't find them at the moment.
Good motor factors may have them.
If you fit a new track rod don't forget to put Locktite on the threads into the rack.

focusv8 That sounds like good news, thanks for another thorough explanation I know f-all! Im gonna get the car into Fords asap, no messing, seeing as it's not my car, it's good to have background info though, thanks again
