Default Looks like i need a new Mondeo

Well the phone rang at 7.30 this morning with my Wifes sister on the phone.

She had put her car into a ditch, it had basically slid off the road as it was greasy and into a ditch.

So off Haley went to get her.

She pulled up in the layby oppisite and made sure her sister was ok.

THEN

A Pug 206 came flying round the same corner and lost control and smashed into my Mondeo that was in the layby

It is in the rescue centre now that the police sent it too, Assesor is going on Monday but i have just spoke on the phone to the insurance and they said it is coming up as a total loss...

Time to see if this GAP insurance was worth it

My sister-in-laws baby was in the back of my car at the time.

She is 100% FINE though...running round like nothing has happened.

The worst bit is that the poor baby had just been in one crash...Then sat in the back of my car and this happened

Thanks for all the concearn people

The one good thing about babies I suppose..they don't tend to have the concern older kids do about the seriousness of it all...

Glad everybodys ok anyway..just a few cars down

I know peeps...it could of been SO SO much worse...

The police man said that the lad had not been driving very long at all and that he has said he lost control in the bend.

I put these in the car a few weeks ago and i think they are what stopped it becoming a very nasty crash

Mark - if the lad has only been driving "not very long" as the copper said, then all the more reason to throw the book at him - going too fast for the prevailing road and weather conditions ammounts to a severe lack due care and attention - he could very easily of killed someone

Tiff,

Reference the air bags, was the engine running or the ignition on at all?

If not then the car will probably have thought there was no one in the car.

Also, slow speed accidents may not trigger airbags. Or at least not the forward airbags. The car was obviously not moving as it was parked up so it may not have triggered because of that.

I recon the main reason behind why they didn't go off is because the ignition wasn't on.
