Default Engine rotation direction?

About to get the top off and have drained all fluids and removed most hoses and connectors and noticed the workshop manual says "note rotating direction of cambelt"

So in what direction does the cams rotate?

Standing in front of the car looking at the engine...

O-O <----cam pulleys

Do they rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Perhaps even easier to answer, what direction should the crank pulley bolt be turned to turn engine forward?

if you mean a YB

The top of the belt moves to the right as you look at it from the front (ie clockwise)

you can tell this as its always the opposite side to the tensioners.

clickwise

they say not the direction of the belt so you put it back on the same way if you are re-using it

Chip, cheers.

So I guess I should turn the crank shaft pulley clockwise to turn it into TDC position?

/Andreas, about to loose my engine work virginity.
