Default DPE box's

Anyone running a DPE gearbox atall?

theres 2 options available

1st with only 2nd & 3rd straight cut or Secondly the option of having a full straight cut set up.

my only worry is noise levels and ease of use on the road as im thinking more along the full straight cut setup.

at the same time my car is fully stripped, caged, solid mount rear beam, pumps in boot etc and not the most quiet of cars at the best of times.
But knowing some straight cut box's can be excesively loud.

Any opinions welcome!

Cheers

The second option is actually making the gear on the input shaft straight cut. The problem with this is that all gears apart from fourth are noisy. Sounds the business but after a week or so it does your fucking head in. I would end up driving in fourth on the motorway sometimes as I could not take it anymore!!!LOL

Now your probably wondering if you really need the the input shaft done - well its all down to luck really . Even Pete will tell you that. Sometimes the Input shaft gear lasts for years with stacks of abuse - other times the teeth are ripped off in 10 minutes!! Just depends how good the metal was when the gear was originally made.

Yes mate.

£1,800 + VAT for the the 2nd/3rd set up. (£2,115)

£2,200 + VAT for the full straight cut set up. (£2,585)

so for the extra £470 i know id rather put the money into that.

Cheers Dave, will give Steve a bell tomorrow then.

thought about Jaime's box but always worried when it comes to a quiafe box - only by everyone elses claims and is a lot of money to spend just to find out they do break like everyone states.

I'd buy the Quaife personally Kelv. Jays one is a bargain in my opinion being Bernie built and shot peened as well.
