just had a so-called expert view the rs500 for his mate
oh dear.........................
my car apparently needs £3000 worth of paint!
now to me the selling point of my car is the fact that its a very quick good spec cossie, not a concours car.
never even asked to go out in it
but said he knows how quick it will be...................
gone away to think about it-easier to just keep it me thinks.

Fook em Jay. Yours is one of the nicest driving 500s around, and thats teh gods honest truth from one of teh few people in the current RS scene who has actually driven a LOT of different 500s and can therefore speak from experience of them.
The right buyer will buy it mate, fook the rest of the gobshites. This is why my car hasnt actually been advertised for sale yet as i cant be arsed dealing with fooking idiots like this in my spare time.

Put it in the garage and forget about it, once you bring it back out you'll fall in love with it again and wonder why you wanted to sell it, Unless ofcourse you need the money tied up in it

Suppose he has a point saying he knows how quick it will be - stupid quick. Why 3k worth of paint? Did he expect it to be TOTALLT mint?
It looks v clean to me anyway.

Sounds like a bit of a muppet really, the sad thing is you get people who expect immaculte cars when they come to buy them, but when they sell it is a different story
When I bought my RS500 I knew it was not the best around, BUT I want to be able to use it and not worry about getting it a little bit dirty or a stone chip or two...and I did not pay the top money for it due to this!! (but still a lot for a Sierra LOL!!)
I guess the person who looked at your car will have to buy one of the 11-13K RS500s then!!!!
If I had not bought mine a while ago I would have been very interested in yours....
Good luck with the sale mate

he recons the rs500 id was worthless because it was cat d.......
rs500 engine was worth a grand,he was a bit of a trader who had just sold a silver sapph out of our local autotader.dare say had i have took his offer of £11500 cash,it would have also been in the week after for £13995.
i certainly dont need to sell it that much,if at all now as i think we have found a cheaper house-by 10k

Trouble is people want it for nothing, i have had a load of time wasters
this week and that is just with a rst, they dont take into account
the time and man hours gone into the car, and the age of most rs fords, to keep them in good condition, most look pretty but if you know where
to look there sheds, so let them buy cheap rubbish, and regret it later.

When you sell it in bits then it can be 10 tossers at a time..
The world is full of timewasters.....
BUT
As someone who looked at 7 RS500s before settling on theirs...
The world is also full of liars, dreamers and folk who think shite is worth gold..
SO as much as it pains me to say it.. its a double edge sword.
Sellers can be as bad if not worse than buyers..... 'Oh yeah its mint mate....mint'

I know what you are saying Kev, I was thinking of breaking mine after all the shit with Ima... but in the end it went to Terry Storey who's done a lovely job on it and the car lives on.
It is a shame to break a perfectly good car, I could understand it if it was a rotter... but it certainly looks good in the pics.
Its also a shame that there is a trend of branding anyone who doesnt buy a car a timewaster, it puts off people who are seriously interested.
After all, how many people would spend 10k plus on a motor they'd seen a few pics of on a bulletin board, so you've got to go and look, but if its not for you then you should be able to walk away without fear of being branded a timewaster etc

as kev says, very few "tossers" on ebay, only really genuine buyers when its proper stuff,20 negative feedbacks from 5,500ish positives on my account cant be that bad,the negatives are 75% none payers as well.break it jay.its the only way.
or as pete rightly says, let me, i will show you an x5 worth as well.and in under 14 days.

i know that its worth good money in bits, especially as most of it is not that old.may be the only way to do it.
im going to make a few guesses at what prices things would go for;
rs500 engine £2000
my 200 block engine £3-3500
rs500 inlet manifold and elbow £750
t4 £750
front bumper £5-700
rear upper spoiler £500
lower spoiler £200
trim-£500
dash £500
l8 ecu with live mapped chip for my engine £400
air injector with driver £250
alloys £650
front brakes £350
rears £250
gaz shocks £400
pacel shelf £100
gearbox £300
diff £250
header tank £100
breather tank £100
roose hoses £50
rs500 cooler £250
coil pack conversion £300
there is circa £12000 there without the shell/id etc
just would seem a shame to break an rs500 as there arent that many left.
what sort of money is rs500 shell/id worth on cat d?
saying that though ,it would be easier to pull it apart than it was putting it together!
