Default New Job - Relocating dilemma ?

Just been offered a good job opportunity in Uxbridge.

Trouble is I have lived in my home town all my life.
I currently live in the west country and traffic is bad enough here
let alone in the London area and its a 190 mile round trip. !

If I accept it, what would be best, relocate or commute.???

Anyone here been in a similar situation ?

You need a check-up from the neck-up if you're even considering commuting a 190mile round trip.

Thats ludicrous!

Good luck whatever you decide though

if the jobs worth the effort you could relocate within 20-30 minutes of Uxbridge, theres a few nice places within that time, especially if you stay close to the M40.

Thanks for the replies...Will have a look at a few towns around the area.
Ultimately will depend on house prices

Im looking for a job in Uxbridge/west london area.....

The only reason i dont want to get a job there is because i'd be leaving the town that i lived in all my life

But what is done has to be done, but Moving to berkshire is one of the best bets, its rather expensive in Uxbridge, well actually, really expensive for the quality that you get as well.

Berkshire aint too bad, straight down the M4 and jobs a goodun

move to uxbridge?
it's a bit of a hole isn't it
there are plenty of cheaper holes you can live within spitting distance of uxbridge, southall, hayes, or, if you are really desperate, northolt being a few
10 minute drive to work in the morning or jump on a buis using the oyster card and bobs your proverbial mothers brother

If your serious about relocating and your moneys better than your reputation ( joke ) then I might be able to help you out on a trial period. Whether it be a room or a house.

By the way Chip lodged here for a few months until he found some real friends ... drop me a pm if you want and we can both sniff Marias nickers together

Plus side is you get to meet the berks pf crew

PS: Chip did tell me that I have no friends and thats why he moved out

Windsor and some nice places are jsut down the road from Uxbridge plus you could hang out at Power Engineering at lunch
Ux is a bit of a hole tho yes. Always worrying when you leave your home town for the 1st time. 1st time I left home was to move to another country - now thats scary! LOL!

I would definately not commute mate.I did for 6 months from lincoln to east midlands airport which is 60 miles each way and it killed me after 2 months. Its easy early on but 4 hrs driving after 12 hrs work drains your will to live.

nice offer Nath

i went to uni in uxbridge. i wouldn't want to live there. coming from where you do, i doubt that you'd want to live east of uxbridge either as it's a relative shithole.

plenty of nice places in berkshire, but you need lots of dollar

wycombe is not bad though.

I live in somerset and work in london, i just travel up once a week.

Used to seem like hard work when i was on 5 day weeks though TBH, so now i just work 4 days, its a bit much otherwise cause the traffic is a bitch on a friday.

Different situation to you though as i dont have any dependants so its easy for me to do so.

Personally though, given the choice, i would live in the west country over london all the time, i fucking hate london, its an overcrowded shithole IMHO, no decent roads, no nice quiet pubs, full of pretencious tossers etc.

Staying at Nath's sounds like a good plan, i enjoyed my time there but to sunbury it was just a little further to commute daily than made sence which is only reason i moved out, but to uxbridge it would be ok i reckon as its just down the M4 from there.

Uxbridge ain't that bad.....plenty of worse places to live IMHO. i live in Yeading (yes the posh part of Hayes lol) not a million miles away it ain't great but its OK. it ain't Monaco but it ain't Iraq either. the marina in Yeading is nice too nice for here. but if you have some wedge behind you, then u could live in Gerrads Cross or Denham or even 'the drive' in Ickenham (very posh) all 5mins away from Uxbridge.

personally fuck driving all the time from somewhere far. it will take a toll on you and (if you have) your family

and as said above Nath ain't far about 25/30miles max. far play to the to him

uxbridge isnt a bad place like most people have said. it was good when marjacks roundabout was on back in the day for a car cruise .anyway ive lived in the surrounding areas and live in ruislip which is 10 or 15 mins drive max.why not rent out something 1st like a room and if you like the area and the job then sell up back home and live here.uxbridge is 5 mins from the m25 aswell.

nice places too live are harefield denham iver ruislip eastcote northwood pinner .not so nice are northolt greenford southall , west drayton and hayes . west drayton is full of pikeys and hayes well i wont go into that

anyway good luck
