Default Ebay problem......

I won an item on Ebay. OK, it's only £15, but I mailed the seller a 'Request for total payable', asking him if I could pay the extra £1.00 to upgrade the postage from First-Class to First-Class Recorded. I haven't heard anything from him. He sent me an invoice after my first email to him, but despite me sending 4 further emails to him, he is not answering me.

I know I won the auction at the stated postage price/service, but now I am unsure about actually paying the guy if he isn't acknowledging my question? Even if he mailed back saying 'Sorry, no I can't do that'. Nothing.

I just have a feeling that he will give me a negative feedback soon, which I really don't deserve. I would ring him, but cannot find his phone number on there.

Should I pay him and not worry about the recorded post thing?

I usually do, but prefer stuff to be sent recorded. Once he has sent the item, it's out of his hands, so if I don't receive it, he can easily just say 'well, I posted it'. Then I have no come-back.

I can't understand why he is ignoring me. It's annoying because I am a prompt payer and have bought something since from someone else, which is already paid-for and on its way. I will pay immediately for his item, if only we could establish 2-way contact!

It doesn't exactly fill you with confidence, especially if something is wrong when you do eventually receive it. If the seller hasn't replied to a simple request, what's gonna happen if you've mailed him to say it arrived broken etc????
