Default new wheels rubbing!!!!!

okay as i suspected put my wheels on today and they did rub on the rear arches as the springs are really soft so next steps before i put them back on is to find out my best options.

getting the arches rolled, wot does this involve and rough cost

stiffer springs (would this cure it)

any other suggestions more than welcome

thanx, Scott

arches rolled isnt to bad actually, basically a tool that bolts to the hub the arch lip is heated slightly (by some places) the its rolled across to bring the lip up, maybe its a good excuse to get coilover? where exactly are they rubbing and what size rims are you using?

you will need to roll the arches if there 17s above

not a hard job i use a flat bit of wood and a hammer to roll them on mk4 escorts

the wood is on the flat side of the arch so it doesnt get out of shape plus you have the kit to cover aswell

the rear is the same and i bet it will rub at the top of the bumper where they all do

the top of the bumper needs trimming to compensate

thsi is how low mine sat even though they were 16s i could easily fit 17s on and have 5 people in without rubbing

yes mate did all mine by myself

you will see where they are rubbing anyhow being a white car as it will leave the tyre tread where its rubbing and im 100% it will be mainly on the top of the bumper lip

coilovers are so that you adjust the ride height of the car

instaed of the shock being fixed it has a thread so you move the spring up or down to suit what height you want and also adjust the stiffness of teh shock aswell

mk4s can only be on front unless you change the complete rear end to run coilovers on back
