cheers mate, always helpfull as usual, thee aa man checked all the earths, put it through his diagnostic comp and couldnt find anything, so logic suggested that it must be the connection on one of the wires under the fuse box

how do i fix one of the connectors and is it just take a pannel of in the car to acces it or just feel around blind??

be prepared for loads and loads of hassle

you can JUST about see the little nuts that hold it in place and you can JUST about pull it up far enough to unplug the connections

BUT

it's going to take DAYS rather than hours, easiest thing to do is to take the drivers seat out altogether, put a big mat on the floor to avoid the bumps in the floor, and get spannering

it's a proper cunt to do mainly because you can't pull the plugs out of the bottom of the box

i might have one floating baout but i think i threw it out the other week
i'll take some pics if i can find it to show you what i mean

i'm also breaking a granada but those boxes are different agian to the sierra

replacing the box would only be good if it was the connection on the box was nackered, i think it must be the end of the wire connction thats dead so replacing the fuse box would do nothing???? or am i 100% wrong?

the fuse box is just a box of plastic with lots of bits of metal running about in it
think of a sandwich, now replace the filling with a strip ot metal, add another layer, and so on and so forth until you have 7 or 8 layers of metal
thats what the fuse box is built up like, so if oyu have a problem you HAVE to take it apart to see if you can sort it

what makes you suspect the fuse box in the first place thoguh?

my dash lights are out, the aa man suggested everything else and it was all working fine. so this is the only thing it can be. ill check the dimmer swith for the dash ligths as thats the only thing it could be.

when he stuck his hand through the car up to the fuse box the ignition lights came on but still no dash lights, thus i think its just a dodgy connection??

what do you think mate??
