Default BMW E36 318is Coupe ECU question

Lass at work has one on a R plate and has been told the ECU is history and she can only use one that has come from BMW in Germany and been programmed.

Can she not just use a second hand ECU for a 318 and if she can any ideas where to get one from?

CheeRS mate would be appreciated. Don't like seeing my friends being tucked up but it doesn't sit right what the BMW guy is telling her

fairly sure she can use another ecu if the number matches, BUT she will have to take car, and ecu to a main dealer to get it coded its not just plug and play unfortunately after 94

Speak to Jayson at Chipped UK, or go to local BMW dealer. One of these two options charges a lot less than the other by the way.

You have a Bosch M5.2 (318is 1.9)

Take a look:
