Default FFS! Think ive blown my gearbox!

Was accelerating hard when all of a sudden the box started making a rite noise
Now it makes the noise in pretty much every gear(But the noisiest is 3rd)
And it even makes it in neautral when the clutch is released

Ive only had the box in 2 months( only used the car 3 times)

Jon, If it's a loud knocking noise, could be the chain in the transfer box.

Sounds like it's stretched enough (under hard acceleration), so that it is now skiping the driven tooth wheel. It can do this in neutral with clutch down......DONT ask me how I know

I agree with doug, sounds more likely to be after the gearbox than in the box itself if it does it in every gear including neutral.

What box is it anyway?

Could also be front diff broken, or more likely the front diff case is cracked, so that CWP is out of line.

Cheers for the advice lads

The car is selecting gear fine but its making a racket

The gearbox is a Swedish Fixit kit with a centre push bearing and twinplate clutch

Hi Doug was yours the red escos i saw today tearing up donno( and rainbird by the look of it)

Would the diff still make a racket if the car was stood though doug?

NO, neither the chain or diff would make the noise in that situation........Now sounds like it's the primary pair or idler rail.

Jon,
As per my PM, keep me posted as to what broke, and I'll get Bjorn to sort it (if it is a Fixit part that has broken). Fingers crossed it isn't the main shaft, as that is still the Ford part .

I also thought it sounded like the chain drive from your description, but now it's sounding like it is a chipped tooth on the input shaft...
