Default What does YB stand for?

A mate of mine asked me what the YB stands for when referring to a cosworth engine, i didnt know the answer.

Any one know?

cosworth used to name things so we could understand by now its just a code YB or FB for my engine

I think its mechanics description. i.e. : YB = " yep,buggered !! "
FB= " FuBar "..

Dont think it means anything at all. Cosworth did some pinto engines in the early 1980s and named them YAA so when making the next model it was named YB...

yb was the series of engine

then they added letters for the version of engines

e.g.

YBD = RS500 engine etc
