Greece never really got it together. England played well with Defoe and Crouch up front. Could have scored a few more aswell...Still need the livewire that is Rooney though

Seems when the pressure is off they play much much better football. Like has been said in prev replies, if we would have been playing with the first half confedence we would have got a round or two further in the WC

Just got home from the game in Manchester...

Fook me, the first half was unreal

even though Crouch scored 2 absoloute flukey goals, fook me the second one he scored, he fooking ducked for the first header that he missed , twat, he should have burried that one

ah well, least we won..

had a top pissup in town with everyone and we even managed to get GREAT seats behind the Greece nets in the first half

Great Result

Sad to say it but the biggest difference was dropping Beckham. I was a huge Becks fan as well, so it hurts to say that!

BUT Without carrying Becks, the Midfield were all athletes and it had pace and balance. With Hargreaves in the holding role, in let Lampard and Gerard to play their own games and they did not get in each others way because Gerard could use space that Becks was wasting.

What would have happened at the world cup with that Midfield formation and balance...

Its easy to say that Porkie, but the simple fact is this, when the pressure is off, England are one of the finest teams on the planet with THE best squad of players, unfortunately the media will not allow england to go into a world cup pressure free, they build them up then knock them down, example I hear u ask.........just before the world cup the news of the world sets Errikson up with that Sheik bloke, wether he did or didnt say them things about owen wanting to leave the toon n that and all the other things he " apparently" said, why did they have to print it before the tournament was about to start.
Why didnt they think " hang on if we print all this bollocks now its gonna have a negative effect on our players, so lets leave it till Germanys over n done with then we will maybe roll with the story"..........Why cause they would rather sell papers then see the national team do well

I know the team was shit this summer, and Im Beckhams biggest fan but how many chances did he want on the big stage, I agree he had to go, but its the media who I blame for Englands constant failure
