i couldnt be arsed to read it but did sludge do the "prep" work and expect you just blow it over?

a good paint job is in the prep and most places i know will not let the customer do any of the prep work at all for reasons that you have found.

if he only scotch brited the whole car and you didnt do any more to it, what does he fucking expect??

a Ł3000 paint job for Ł500 i bet.

no digs at all to you mate, but you get what you pay for

I dont really want to get drawn into an argument on here at all, so this will be the only post about this matter from me to be quite honest.

The link for all the work did NOT need to be backhashed to mania. It could simply have been pointed here>

https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...308&highlight=

Secondly, at the time i asked what i could do, i was told to START scotchbrighting the car. I did to try and help out. I HAVE never EVER done a car before. I did as i was asked, as i was told that all of it would be done properly anyway.

The reason why ONLY the bonnet was painted in tin cans by myself is that some of you may remember when i got my car nicked???The post was on here before the PF meltdown thing. Anyway heres the link to the RSOC

http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showth...ghlight=sludge

To get it ready for the National Day parade lap, the celebration of the RS Turbo the car was reshelled. The bonnet was no good so i sourced a cream coloured one. I could not get anyone local to do the job in time for National Day 2004. So i duley sprayed it mesefl with Halfords spray tin. Thats it in a nutshell really.

I dont prep, i dont paint cars, so i took it someone who did.

The car was taken away in may 2005, I got it back in January 2006.

I will not be drawn any further into this debate as its pointless. My bonnet is being done by someone else, as i need it for national day this year. As for the kit yet, i have no idea as to who when what or how it is being done.

bonnet only had 22 light coats if i remember and then
one good one to get the flow right, i had loads of problems
with that bonnet,

if i remeber right it was a cool day when it was done

that was on this link here
http://www.rs-mania.co.uk/forums/ind...50#entry131821

sick and tired of all of this now tbh, wish i just scrapped the thing

Why bring this on here at all? If it was already going off on RS Mania (to be honest, I couldn't care enough to read the links) then why bother draggin it up here?

Don't either of you own phones? Fucking ring each other or something

sorry guys but this is not down to sludge at all he's a great guy
my point is why say that in front of others when it has nothing
to do with them

ive had problems with someone on rs-mania pointing out about my
work its nothing to do with sludge we have spoke about this and
im fine with what has happend and said i will sort the problem as
smudgerz has said its one of those things

b19bal we havent fallen out mate

i done all the work myself and the only parts that have gone wrong
is the ones that were done before with a spray can in 10 years of
me doing paint work this is the first time ive had a bad comment
but never in front of so many members.

No wonder it looks shit if all he did was scotch it off and you threw paint at it ,,
The condition of that paint before you started was scrap and should have been taken right back ,

As said , painting is the easy part , a good paint job is 99.9% prep prep prep

A quailty primer and a bloke who can prep will give the painter a perfect surface to lay the paint down and will give the perfect results .

This is exactly why when i did paintwork i would NEVER paint anything i didnt prep myself

bit late for baz to think that now though, as he said hes never had that issue before so hesnnever ahd reason to say that

i guess hes gonna say that from now on but the thing i was wondering was why they was soo off with eacj other as baz and slidge seem to be the 2 most laied back people and also got along very well so would be a shame to fall out over a car,,,,,, not like he slept with his missus ect

mind that could explain the crackson the bonnet

It wasnt ment to cheer people up, i was being honest..

If sludge wanted to be lied to he would of said "I feel down, cheer me up"

I had a car like that once. Loved it to pieces... but in the end the rust won the war and i had no choice but to give up tryig to keep up with the holes and paint falling off cos it had nothing to hold on to

rust can be removed and sealed, u just need to know how.

As for the bonnet, it needs stripping back to bare metal - it's got too much paint on it, prob with lots of moisture trapped between the layers where it wasn't allowed to flash off.

no need to fall out about it.. paint does some mad things depending on whats under it, on top of it, the heat and weather conditions etc.

Just one of them things.

Im sure many of us have had things painted again cos we not happy with it for what ever reason..

It does not mean that the painter is at fault every time.

Regards

True, as Jano says. Occasionally you will have to repaint something. It's a total pain, but can't be helped.
