Not a chance.

You've got the Love - The Source

has to be up there as one of mine, although I would concede to Cafe Del Mar, or possibly William Orbit's Barber's Adagio for Strings.........

How can people class trance tracks as the best dance tracks of all time?

Orbital's Chime, Moby's Go, Charlie by the Prodigy, Papa New Guinea by Future Sound of London?

Is charlie a dance track? I would of classed it as techno myself.

Indeed, but as an overall dance track, it takes it IMO.

It came on in a club we were in couple of weeks back, and I got so excited, my mates thought I was having a fit

I think techno is as different to dance as hip hop and rock are?

I put all the genres like techno, trance, house etc etc under the dance banner.

House was the first to emerge in the late 80's closely followed by techno which was absolutely nothing like what people call techno today.

Yes, I am a vinyl geek BTW. Got over 700 in the loft, mostly. Decks are still in the front room tho.

I class dance as a broad genre with house, techno, hardcore, etc etc all parts of it.

Same as there are tons of variations of Rock and so on.

No chance - of course techno is dance music.

Anything that's club based with a 4/4 time signature, and repetitive 8 or 16 bar loops has to be dance music by definition.

Plus, the easy thing with "Dance music" post 95 is that so much of it was legitimate club stuff that crossed over......

Pre-95 you've got so much better stuff, from that Happy Mondays stuff right through to some of that acid influenced early rave stuff.

United Dance Anthems 88-92 is doing the honours in my CD player in the car right now.....

Tracklisting:

1. You Got The Love - Source & Candi Staton
2. Baby Let Me Love You For The Night - Kariya
3. Sueno Latino - Sueno Latino
4. Break 4 Love - Raze (1)
5. Rescue Me - Malone, Debbie
6. Come Get My Loving - Dionne
7. I Can Dance - DJ Fast Eddie (1)
8. Acid Thunder - DJ Fast Eddie (1)
9. Monkey Say Monkey Do - Westbam
10. Airport 89 - Allen, Woody (2)
11. Phantom - Renegade Soundwave
12. Stakker Humanoid - Humanoid
13. Bring Forth The Guillotine - Silver Bullet (1)
14. 20 To Get In - Shut Up & Dance
15. Total Confusion - Homeboy A Hippy & A Funki Dred
16. Mr Kirk's Nightmare - 4 Hero
17. What Have You Done - One Tribe & Gem
18. Papua New Guinea - Future Sound Of London
19. Dextrous - Nightmares On Wax
20. LFO - LFO (1)
21. Give Me The Energy - Pink Noise
22. Pure - GTO (1)
