JAPANESE GYMKHANAS
any one else know what a jap gymkhana is,i had a Type RA impreza
and it had a well modified suspension, the shockers were KYB
GAB tarmac gymkhana.
so i went on a search and found some nice sites with funny jap
music, but dedicated to what looks like CAR PARK RALLYING
i had been told that the Japs race round multi story car parks
not this drift stuff, just straight forward rallying, it seems they find
a big outdoor carpark and set a course and then time themselves

Its just a timed event over a set course, pretty much nothing to do with ricers tearing round a car park but more of a general name for such events. Its not motoring specific either.

its like a sprint event for road cars.
like sprints/hillclimbs in this country.
popular in USA and Japan, and thats the name used.
call it autocross in USA too.

gymkhana is a tech style race ..its were all the drifters learn to drive its a cross between autocross and drift ......there are set out cones in a car park and u have to get around them in the fastest possible time , and most of the time the fasted way is to drift around them hence y drifters do it

Yeah, we call it "autocross" here in the states. Basically just a course set up with traffic cones in a big car park or similar. It's pretty popular as an amateur motorsport over here. We don't have a lot of open track days like you guys seem to have in Europe. Here's me and my Fiesta in some autocross action!

Whoa i thought autotest was racing round cones and shooting bacwards
into spaces, this Jap gymkhana rallying didn't look the same,
does it look like it could catch on here?
on a japanese site i was looking at it was stated you need a huge
car park hence why some people observe it as car park rallying!
also it mentioned 800 hp sklines get stuffed by 200hp starlets
you don't need a very powerfull car to do well

Ta Stavros!!
do you think it will catch on though, cos in Japan it seems huge,
well publicised and sponsored,by big companies.
for the record you need a helmet, full harness, no passengers
my impreza had no roll cage, you just need to
just follow the course,oh and you need a good handling car
it seems a cheep form of rallying if you ask me
